Helen's specialist work area is in retirement village law. She advises retirement village operators, managers and statutory supervisors on all facets of retirement village law, including ownership structuring, land acquisition and development funding, and general legal compliance.

Helen has been involved in the development of many retirement villages throughout New Zealand and has assisted in strategic decision making for major retirement village operators.

Helen served for four years as the President of the Retirement Villages Association of New Zealand Incorporated.  As such, she was extensively involved in the development of the Retirement Villages Act 2003 and associated compliance regime, including discussions and negotiations with Parliamentary select committees, Government ministers, their ministries, the Retirement Commissioner and various interest groups.  

Helen is currently director of a privately held retirement village company.

Helen also provides advice on construction law, property law and unincorporated bodies such as partnerships and joint ventures.
